Over more than 30 years—entirely referral-based—Ellen has advised 50+ organizations, blending strategic perspective with practical execution. Equally central to her work is Backpack Dreams, the nonprofit she cofounded to empower students as fundraisers and leaders while expanding economic opportunity for women artisans in the U.S. and developing countries. Through the sale of ethically made, high-quality products, students raise meaningful funds for their programs while supporting families in transforming poverty into prosperity, gaining leadership skills and a clear connection between their efforts and real-world impact.
